The project essence
Cafe Kultur is a vibrant cultural event series designed for coffee and culture lovers alike. Spanning seven evenings across seven different locations in Timisoara, this initiative was organized by the French and German Institutes in Romania. I felt privileged and inspired to create the visual identity for the 2021 edition—one that distills the richness of culture into lively graphic language.
THE CREATIVE APPROACH
With full freedom over the color palette, typography, and art direction, I drew inspiration from the modern aesthetics of coffee, tea, and chocolate brands—infusing a touch of equatorial warmth into the urban jungle vibe of a big city. Straight lines, rectangles, rounded shapes, and wavy lines became the building blocks of the concept—a simple yet emotionally resonant language of culture. This geometry gave shape to the multiplicity of art forms presented across the events: music, theatre, film, dance.

To make each of the seven events identifiable yet part of a cohesive whole, every location and event was given a unique color and symbol, creating an inviting, colorful map for the cultural week. The playful spirit extended to Chocolatkultour, an event for children, where I introduced cocoa and milk-inspired softness into the graphics, maintaining continuity through playful bubbles and geometric forms.Typography was carefully chosen to match the mood: Cafékultour adopted the modern, clean Futura PT, supporting readability and the bold geometry, while Chocolatkultour used the ludic, lively Chaloops font, embodying sweetness and youthful playfulness.
The Creative Harvest
The identity captured the essence of Cafe Kultur beautifully—a mix of sophistication and fun, urban coolness and tropical warmth, art and everyday magic. Posters, flyers, banners and social media kits—all carried the vibrant persona of the event, making every evening a visually delightful invitation. This collaboration was a joyful celebration of culture’s diverse flavors, engaging the city's community with a feast for the senses, one graphic shape and coffee sip at a time.
